Connecting Onchain Settlement to Global Payments | Stable Thesis

Stable's integration with Visa Direct and the addition of PayPal USD (PYUSD) are advancing the infrastructure for global stablecoin payments.

Stablecoins are changing how value moves across borders, but efficient on-chain settlement alone is not enough to support global payments at scale. Businesses also need access to stablecoin liquidity and connectivity to the financial networks people and businesses use to receive funds.

At Stable, we’re building infrastructure that connects these components, enabling businesses to move beyond standalone stablecoin transfers toward more integrated payment operations.

Our recent announcements with Visa Direct and PayPal USD (PYUSD) mark two significant steps in this direction. The Visa Direct integration connects Stable’s settlement infrastructure to a global money-movement network, while adding PYUSD expands Stable's stablecoin options.

Stable x Visa Direct: Expanding Global Payout Capabilities

Our integration with Visa Direct is a major step toward bringing on-chain settlement into established global payment flows. Visa Direct moves money across more than 195 countries and territories, connecting to over 18 billion eligible endpoints through its broader network, including eligible bank accounts, cards, and digital wallets.

Through this integration, Stable connects its settlement infrastructure to Visa Direct’s Account and Wallet network to support real-time payouts to eligible bank accounts and mobile wallets.

This integration matters for more than adding another payment destination. It creates a pathway for businesses to connect stablecoin-based settlement with the financial accounts and wallets they already use to receive and manage money.

Consider a business that needs to distribute payments to contractors across different markets. Using stablecoins for settlement can help the business move dollar-denominated value efficiently. Still, the recipients may prefer to receive funds in their existing bank accounts or mobile wallets rather than manage a blockchain wallet themselves.

The integration is particularly relevant across regions such as Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, where cross-border payments, mobile wallets, and local financial networks play an important role in how people and businesses receive money.

What This Means for Enterprise Payments

Connecting onchain settlement with established payout networks has implications across several payment categories.

Cross-border business payouts: Companies paying international suppliers, service providers, and contractors can explore payment flows that combine stablecoin settlement with delivery to eligible local bank accounts and mobile wallets.

Marketplaces and digital platforms: Platforms serving sellers, creators, and independent workers across countries need efficient ways to distribute earnings. Integrating on-chain settlement with existing payout networks can expand how those platforms manage international disbursements.

Remittances and payment service providers: Providers moving money across borders can use stablecoin settlement infrastructure in their payment operations while staying connected to familiar recipient endpoints.

Treasury and payment operations: Businesses coordinating international payments can benefit from faster on-chain movement of funds, potentially reducing operational delays between settlement and payout initiation.

These use cases illustrate why connectivity matters as much as blockchain performance. Businesses need infrastructure that supports the complete movement of funds, from the underlying settlement transaction to the recipient’s preferred payment destination.

PayPal USD on Stable: Expanding Stablecoin Utility

The addition of PayPal USD (PYUSD), issued by Paxos and launched by PayPal, expands the stablecoin assets available to applications and businesses operating on StableChain. Designed for payments and commerce, PYUSD enables payment applications to support another established stablecoin within Stable's settlement environment.

Stable's architecture remains central to this experience. Businesses can transact onchain without managing a separate volatile gas token, while accessing the network's low transaction costs and sub-second finality.

What PYUSD Brings to the Stable Ecosystem

Greater flexibility for payment applications: Businesses and developers can build payment flows supporting PYUSD alongside USDT, accommodating different stablecoin preferences, liquidity arrangements, and operational requirements without moving to a different blockchain.

More opportunities for payments and commerce: PYUSD is designed for real-world payment use cases, including cross-border transfers, business payments, and digital commerce. Its addition enables developers to explore these applications using Stable’s payment-focused infrastructure.

Cross-chain connectivity: With LayerZero-powered interoperability, PYUSD can move between Stable and supported blockchain ecosystems, helping businesses and applications access PYUSD across networks rather than operating within a single blockchain environment.

For Stable, expanding PYUSD access is part of building a payment ecosystem where businesses can use different stablecoins while benefiting from the same underlying infrastructure for low-cost, efficient on-chain transactions.

The Next Phase of Stablecoin Payments

The Visa Direct integration and the addition of PYUSD strengthen different parts of Stable's payment infrastructure while advancing the same objective: making stablecoin payments more accessible and practical for businesses operating globally.

Together, these capabilities support a broader range of payment applications, from cross-border business transfers and merchant settlements to international payouts and digital commerce.

As stablecoin adoption grows, the focus will increasingly shift toward how effectively onchain infrastructure connects with existing financial systems.

For Stable, these integrations mark an important step toward making stablecoin settlement a more integral part of how businesses move money across global markets.
